Hi there! In my experience, reaching goals may not be as easy as we think it would be. There are a lot of things to consider. Including family, friends, co-workers and most especially, ourselves. We tend to limit ourselves into what other people think we can achieve. Sometimes we set these goals as a second option until we feel that we're ready for it. But the sad news is, we will never be ready. We're waiting for that time "to be ready" that doesn't actually exist. So for us to reach out goals means to give up that mindset that there is a "right time" for everything. If you want it now, simply "Do it now". Here are some of my tips which can help you achieve your goals.
Decide what you really want.
Many of us didn't really know where to go after college. Or what career we are choosing, or who we want to be in our lives, or the track we are walking. This happens because we consider other people that affects our lives. The risk we're taking may cause a big impact to our family or their expectations. But think of it this way, if maybe we're on our own, maybe our goals will be different from when we're with our family. Maybe the goal is clearer and as broad as we think. Maybe we're on for it right now. Maybe we've decided and doing our best to achieve it right at this moment.
We're too confused between 'what they wants us to do' and 'what we really want to do'. Considering the people we love is a constant thing in this world. But choosing what we want for ourselves, may not be as bad as we thought. If the people around you really loves you, they'll understand it for sure.We are all individuals, we have different perspective, we have different ways to live and a different goals in life. If the goal isn't clear to you. Then it most probably be impossible to achieve it.
Don't wait til you're ready.
In my 25 years of existence there are a lot of opportunities passed in front of me that I regret not grabbing. A lot of great things that I could've tried, but I just let it pass. But then there's nothing I can do about it now. It's already in the past. What I learned about that is, opportunity never really knocks twice, and that is clear now. So I told my self, (after the goal is clear), I will grab the next opportunity that will come.
My professors once told us, "If opportunity is in front of you, just grab it. If it doesn't work for you, then leave it." As simple as that. He simply means we always have a choice. There are no excuses to leaving the situation you're into if you really want to, and if you only have the courage and responsible enough to know the consequences of your action.
In this world, there's no such thing as "safe risk". It's either you choose to risk for your goal, or not choose at all.
Focus only on things you can control
You may heard it a lot of times, "Focus on you goals". But merely focusing on goals will not help you achieve it. You need to understand that you are not in control of your goals. It is outside of your control. The only thing you can control is your actions towards achieving your goals. Let's say you want to own a million peso on your account. You just don't wait, sitting on your couch, to see if your account will just grow a million peso in it. You need to work for it! Yes you already know that you want a certain thing, but it doesn't end there. Don't merely wishing for it to happen. Start diverting your attention from your goal to actually doing something to achieve your goal. It's a two different thing. Your actions are the prerequisites of your success. So stop focusing and dreaming about your goals. Start taking actions, because it's the only thing you can control. Either you become productive or not, it's your choice.
